A painter has one specific idea of exactly what discount easels are. For her it is a large contraption that stands on the floor. It holds canvas after canvas at just the right height for her to create the next masterpiece at. A swish of the brush one way, a slope of it another, and there again is something new and beautiful.
To the jeweler, they are another beast entirely. They sit in store windows or on counter tops, mimicking the neck and shoulders of a woman. Necklaces are hung around them to make for a better display. These then become an integral part of his business.
Plate collectors love their own version of them as well. A smaller thing that is meant to sit on a tabletop, cradling the plate, and holding it upright. After all, what good is a collection that's tucked away somewhere? Artwork etched into plates should be left out for all to enjoy. That is the main point in having it to begin with, isn't it? To add something lovely to your home and your life.
For many more of us, tabletop easels are also used in a similar way to instead display photographs. I know I personally use these a lot. I have my good friends and relatives around me all the time with those photos displayed the way they are. Fond memories of great times are just a glance away all over my home. It's a very comforting thing.
